Realistic Conversation (At a Café)

Ali: Good morning! How are you?

Fatima: I’m fine, thank you. And you?

Ali: I’m great, thanks. What time is it?

Fatima: It’s half past ten. (10:30)

Ali: Do you like coffee?

Fatima: Yes, I love coffee. But I drink tea in the morning.

Ali: Me too. Where are you from, Fatima?

Fatima: I am from Lahore. And you?

Ali: I am from Karachi. What do you do?

Fatima: I am a teacher. I teach English. And you?

Ali: I am a software engineer.

Fatima: That’s interesting! Do you have siblings?

Ali: Yes, one brother and one sister. How about you?

Fatima: I have two sisters.

Ali: How much is a cup of tea here?

Fatima: I think it’s around $3.

Ali: Excuse me, waiter! Could we have two cups of tea, please?

Waiter: Of course. Anything else?

Ali: No, thank you.

(After tea)

Ali: Could we have the bill, please?

Waiter: Here you are. That’s $6.

Ali: Here’s $10. Keep the change.

Waiter: Thank you! Have a nice day.

Fatima: It was nice talking to you, Ali. Goodbye!

Ali: Goodbye, Fatima! See you later.
