Common Dialogue (일상 대화)

Practice real-life conversations: restaurant, shopping, doctor, meeting a friend.

Dialogue 1: At a Restaurant (식당에서)

Waiter: 어서 오세요. 몇 분이세요? (Eoseo oseyo. Myeot buniseyo?) – Welcome. How many people?

Customer: 두 명이에요. 메뉴 좀 주세요. (Du myeongieyo. Menyu jom juseyo.) – Two people. Menu please.

Waiter: 여기 있습니다. 뭘 드시겠어요? (Yeogi itsseumnida. Mwol deusigesseoyo?) – Here you are. What would you like to eat?

Customer: 비빔밥 하나랑 김치찌개 하나 주세요. 얼마예요? (Bibimbap hanarang gimchijjigae hana juseyo. Eolmayeyo?) – One bibimbap and one kimchi jjigae, please. How much is it?

Waiter: 만오천 원입니다. (Manocheon wonimnida.) – 15,000 won.

Customer: 여기 있어요. 감사합니다! (Yeogi isseoyo. Gamsahamnida!) – Here it is. Thank you!

Dialogue 2: Shopping for Clothes (옷 쇼핑)

Customer: 이 셔츠 얼마예요? (I syeocheu eolmayeyo?) – How much is this shirt?

Seller: 5만 원이에요. (Oman wonieyo.) – 50,000 won.

Customer: 너무 비싸요! 좀 깎아 주세요. (Neomu bissayo! Jom kkakka juseyo.) – Too expensive! Please lower the price a bit.

Seller: 그럼 4만 원만 주세요. (Geureom saman wonman juseyo.) – Then just give me 40,000 won.

Customer: 좋아요, 살게요. (Joayo, salgeyo.) – Okay, I'll buy it.

Dialogue 3: At the Doctor's Clinic (병원에서)

Doctor: 어디가 아파요? (Eodiga apayo?) – Where does it hurt?

Patient: 머리가 아프고 열이 나요. (Meoriga apeugo yeori nayo.) – I have a headache and a fever.

Doctor: 체온을 재 볼게요. 38도예요. 감기인 것 같아요. (Cheoneul jae bolgeyo. 38 do yeyo. Gamgiin geot gatayo.) – Let me check your temperature. It's 38 degrees. It seems like a cold.

Patient: 약을 줘요? (Yageul jwoyo?) – Will you give me medicine?

Doctor: 네, 이 약을 드시고 푹 쉬세요. (Ne, i yageul deusigo puk swiseyo.) – Yes, take this medicine and rest well.

Patient: 감사합니다, 선생님. (Gamsahamnida, seonsaengnim.) – Thank you, doctor.

Dialogue 4: Meeting a Friend (친구 만나기)

민수 (Minsu): 안녕! 오랜만이야. 잘 지냈어? (Annyeong! Oraenmaniya. Jal jinaesseo?) – Hi! Long time no see. Have you been well?

지영 (Jiyeong): 응, 잘 지냈어. 너는? (Eung, jal jinaesseo. Neoneun?) – Yes, I've been well. And you?

민수: 나도 잘 지내. 뭐 하고 있어? (Nado jal jinae. Mwo hago isseo?) – I'm fine too. What are you doing?

지영: 지금 도서관에 가는 길이야. 책을 빌리려고. (Jigeum doseogwane ganeun giriya. Chaegeul billiryeogo.) – I'm on my way to the library. To borrow a book.

민수: 그럼 나중에 전화해. 안녕! (Geureom najunge jeonhwahae. Annyeong!) – Then call me later. Bye!

지영: 그래, 안녕! (Geurae, annyeong!) – Okay, bye!

Role‑Play Practice

Try to recreate one of the above dialogues with a partner. Change the items, prices, or symptoms. Use vocabulary from previous days.

Practice scenario: You are at a street food stall. Ask for two portions of tteokbokki (떡볶이), ask for the price, bargain, and pay.
